School Site Council
Welcome to the Navigator School Site Council Info Page
What is School Site Council (SSC)?
What it means for your student
One of the biggest roles the SSC plays is in creating and approving a single plan for student achievement. This plan lays out how the Title 1 money will go toward meeting school goals and how that relates to the district LCAP (Local Control and Accountability Plan).
What can the council accomplish
The idea behind SSC is that the family and community have a say in how the school focuses its attention on certain aspects of teaching and everyday school practices. Some example agenda items include: services at school, literacy, how to help with homework, common core, parent clubs, town hall type meeting for LCAP info, conduct/share results of parent surveys.
What we accomplished in 2023-2024
In 2023-24 the council met on a monthly basis for an hour each time. During those meetings they were able to approve the school safety binder, approve the school site plan, brainstormed ways to help English learners academically and socially, review of site goals as they pertain to the LCAP and attendance, school effectiveness input and Title 1 funding allocation
How can I get involved?
Every member should serve a two-year term with half the members new each year. Navigator is in need of new parent members this coming year. So we are offering 2 year commitments. If you are interested in helping Navigator have a focus more in line with your views, please let us know and we can put your name on the ballot for the 2024-25 school year.
